This will be a very quick post of mostly photos I’d taken during our trip to Siem Reap last July (!!!)
We took 3-4 full days to see the some of the ancient temples of Angkor on our own. We read up on the ruins using Micheal Freeman’s and Claude Jacques’ Ancient Angkor before each trip out so we could avoid the crowds and go at our own pace. We bought the very informative guide at Monument Books, which also stocks other good local books.
Words cannot describe how spectacular Angkor Wat is and also how ridiculously crowded it gets. If you’d like like to know how we managed to avoid the madness, you could email me. For now, please do enjoy the photographs. Every corner presented photo opportunities and I had so much fun just sitting at quiet corners and taking it all in.

Thank you Sid! Which part of Italy are you at? I’m coming to Rome on a very short trip before heading to Switzerland next week.

That’s wonderful to here! My bucket list is an ever growing list of places to see and experience too. The temples of Angkor are amazing. Although I’ve seen many photos and videos of the temples, nothing prepared me for truly spectacular they are.

That sounds amazing, I would do anything to visit them tomorrow if I could, because they look incredible!
